I spent some more time working on KUWL and KUWY this evening. Reid had finished cleaning up the transmission lines into the building and I started working on the remote control. As the sun set it started to snow up on the mountain. You have to keep a close eye on the weather here in […]

Today Larry and I headed for Torrington to install a satellite dish. This translator (like Rawlins) had previously been fed over the air from 91.9, KUWR. As with Rawlins, it is quite a stretch for the 91.9 KUWR signal to reach Torrington reliably. The satellite feed should ensure that the signal does not fade due […]

Reid and I spent some more time working on the two new Laramie stations today. I was able to get the transmitters mounted in the equipment rack and Reid was able to finish connecting the cables to the antennas. The timeline has been pushed back a bit more than we would have liked but we […]

As I mentioned in my previous post, snow had knocked KUWJ off the air for two days in a row. I started to make my way up the hill to the transmitter this morning. It was snowing fairly hard at the time. The drive up the hill was a bit of an adventure…This hill is […]

Early yesterday morning I received several reports that Jackson was off the air. The transmitter was on but there was no audio. I decided to make a trip to investigate. Apparently there was a mix of rain and heavy wet snow in the area. This wet sloppy mix filled the dish and interrupted the signal. […]

Over the past week while Reid and I were in Jackson, WPR started its on-air fundraiser. Last week was a series of “challenge hours”. During the challenge hour week we are not on the air continuously asking for money. Instead we ask people to call in during certain hours with a pledge which is matched […]

It was a rather grueling day today. The major project of the day was to get the STL link up and running. Unfortunately, we had discovered some additional issues yesterday with the signal path from the hospital downtown up to the tower. We first went down to the hospital to investigate whether or not there […]

Reid and I traveled to beautiful Jackson Hole, Wyoming yesterday. Our mission was to install a filter to alleviate some interference issues and to activate a new STL link from the hospital downtown up to the transmitter site. This link will allow us to move our satellite dish from the mountain down into town where […]

Reid went back to Pilot Hill today to finish hanging the antenna for KUWL. This is the second antenna for WPR’s two new Laramie stations that will soon be going on the air. The installation looks nice. Now that the antennas are hung we will need to connect the feedlines to them. Once that is […]
