I have spent the past couple of days on the road reinstalling HD Radio equipment. Sheridan, Gilette and Sundance had all been without HD signals for some time due to equipment failure. In addition, Sheridan apparently had a satellite receiver failure much like Rock Springs!

Yesterday afternoon I left Laramie for Sheridan. It took about 5 hours to get there. I spent the night in Sheridan and then went to the transmitter site in the morning. Fortunately the road to the site had been improved significantly since my last visit. After reinstalling the HD equipment and replacing the satellite receiver all was well.

Once I left Sheridan I headed for Gillette and Sundance. As I was driving through Buffalo, I noticed that our HD signal was off the air. I decided to check into the situation. Unfortunately this delayed my progress to the other two sites. To add to the delays, apparently the land owner has decided to made access to the site slightly more difficult. I had to walk in and carry the tools and equipment I had brought with me.

A reboot of the HD equipment restored the HD signal. Once I had finished the unscheduled stop in Buffalo I continued on to Gillette and Sundance.

Gillette was pretty a pretty quick visit…I only needed to reinstall the HD equipment.

Note the gap on the right equipment rack where the HD exciter goes…

I finished reinstalling the HD equipment in Gillette and headed for Sundance. By the time I got to Sundance it was fairly late so I decided to call it a night. I will head for the transmitter in the morning, reinstall the HD equipment and then head back to Laramie.

I enjoy traveling but I really could use some time back at home! Plenty of projects back in Laramie to finish up as well…
