I recently had the privilege of putting yet another new station on the air. This one is 88.5 KZUW. It carries our “Classical Wyoming” network and will serve the Rock Springs/Reliance/Green River area with 24/7 classical music.
We launched this service in Laramie on 88.5 KUWY and 91.9 KUWR-HD2 about a year and a half ago and will continue to expand it via additional analog and HD2 services as resources allow.
An absolutely beautiful day up on Aspen Mountain…
A few clouds rolling in but nothing serious to worry about for the moment.
A hawk soars overhead in the clouds…
Reid finishes the process of hanging the antenna on the tower…
Yours truly “flips the switch” on the newly installed transmitter once the antenna has been hung. The transmitter is a Crown FM500 which is sufficient to drive this low power station. The other station at the site (90.5 KUWZ) operates at 35,000 watts ERP and is driven by a Broadcast Electronics FM30B running at 14 kW TPO into a five bay antenna…It had previously been a 100,000 watt station before it was moved to this site (hence the transmitter running at only half of its capable output power).
