I received a report that our new Riverton translator was off the air.  Apparently it was “motorboating”.  When I got close enough to hear what was going on, it sounded like the same little snippet of audio had gotten “stuck” somehow.  I tried to access the site in the truck but needed to take a snow vehicle into the site instead.  Apparently it is 25 miles each way from the road to the site!  I had never actually paid attention to the distance before…

The equipment rack…It is weather tight.  This is the first time I had installed a translator this way but so far it seems to be working out pretty well.

Apparently it is staying warm enough inside the rack to cause some ice buildup at the door seal.

Ice buildup on the padlock…Fortunately the ice has not frozen the lock and it is easily opened.

The equipment…A receiver, transmitter and uninterruptible power supply.

The transmitter…Audio levels look very strange and correspond with the odd repeating snip of audio on the air.  Hopefully this is a simple issue with the receiver…

The receiver looks OK but I’m going to power cycle it to attempt to restore service.  That seems to have done the trick.
