We have a small translator in Worland.  It is fed from our digital signal on Copper Mountain and had unfortunately been off the air due to the failure of the digital signal.  We wanted to attempt to replace the receiver while we were in the area since the current receiver had been prone to occasional issues with “locking up” and taking the translator off the air.

Once again our new toy…errr…tool stands at the ready to take us up the hill.  Worland had apparently received a pretty considerable amount of snow the previous day.

 

It doesn’t look all that high as you travel up to it but this ridge is actually quite high above the town of Worland.

Reid unpacks the new receiver…

Unfortunately an issue prevented us from using the new receiver.  It seems it is sensitive to the output of another translator in the shack.  When that translator is transmitting it prevents the replacement receiver from locking to our 91.3 digital signal.  I suspect the other translator may be transmitting a spurious signal near 91.3.  We’re going to have to revisit this one…
