Off to Jackson–The manufacturer of our HD Radio equipment had asked me to replace a component as a preventative measure.

After one failed attempt late yesterday I made it up the hill without issue in the daylight.  The snow up here is pretty deep but I’ve seen it deeper in years past.

At least 6-12″ of snow pressed down by the Polaris…

I’m sinking pretty far down as I step through the snow!

My tracks driving up to the site…

Our equipment is the set of three racks in the middle–Auxiliary transmitter, filter, main transmitter and equipment rack.

The transmitter is quite happy–operating normally.  This particular visit is just for preventative maintenance.

The old “exporter” is on the bottom–still operating normally at the moment.  The new exporter is on top–I will program it before moving all connections from the old to the new.

…and as I am on site the old unit goes into a GPS fault!  This was the issue I was replacing the unit to prevent.

The old unit is removed and the new one is in its place.  It will take a while for the GPS signal to “lock”.  Since this is such a high precision unit it can take up to 2 hours to “train” once it locks to the GPS satellite.

Who’s that guy?

Only a slight wind as I drive back down the hill.

What a gorgeous view of the Jackson Hole valley–You can see the National Elk Refuge in the distance.

Making tracks down the hill…

More beautiful scenery as I head back down to the bottom of the mountain.

Bundled up!  Not too cold today but still pretty frigid…

Had a bit of an issue the previous night–You can see here where I got stuck and had to turn around.

Once back at the bottom, I verified proper operation using the radio in the truck and made a few minor adjustments remotely.
