We had been working on getting a new station on the air in Rawlins (89.9 FM, KUWI) for the six months or so.  This 2,000 watt station was a replacement for a 250 watt translator.  After getting the antenna mounted on the tower and preparing the (used) transmitter to go into the site, it was time to transport the transmitter to the site and bring the station up to full power.

All modules and auxiliary equipment removed from transmitter cabinet for transport…

Reid loads the transmitter cabinet into the truck bed.
Fortunately, the building where we had been storing this rig has an overhead crane which made loading much easier.

At the transmitter site…Lots of people to assist with unloading and installation!

Unloading the transmitter cabinet from the truck…

Space cleared for the transmitter in the shack…

Placing the transmitter in the shack…

Ben brings a module for the transmitter into the shack…

Reid starts re-assembling the transmitter…

Finished!  Time to put it on the air…

The transmitter went on the air without a hitch.  Upgrading from 250 watts to 2000 watts made a significant improvement in the station’s coverage.  In addition, the new frequency is no longer co-channel with another broadcaster.  This also improved the coverage significantly.
