I ordered the parts yesterday for overnight delivery and anxiously awaited for their arrival at the hotel. They arrived around 11 AM and I made my way back up to the site to start repairs.
Wow…I didn’t know a transmitter being off the air qualified as a medical emergency!
Auxiliary transmitter chugging away…
The auxiliary transmitter keeps us on the air while I perform repairs on the main transmitter…
One ailing main transmitter…Very unusual for this rig to have an issue. This manufacturer’s equipment has generally been rock solid.
Looks like an issue with the exciter…
Sure enough, the exciter is showing repeated B+ faults. Looks like my suspicion of the power supply issues is confirmed. Thank goodness for detailed diagnostics!
Removing the exciter from the main transmitter…
Disassembled exciter…Note the power supply modules. The silver box is one of the power supplies and the green circuit board is another. I need to replace both of them.
Oh no! The manufacturer only shipped ONE of the two power supplies I needed. Time to give them a call to see if I can get the other one on the way for tomorrow…
Looks like I’m going to be in Jackson for one more night awaiting the other part…
